Teeanime did a lot of research and polling to find out what parts of a man’s body are most attractive to women.
Let’s get right to the point: If you’re a jerk, it doesn’t matter if you look like a Greek god. Even though douchey men might be a woman’s first choice for a one-night stand, they’re not what women want in a long-term partner (hey, researchers proved it), so don’t take this as an excuse to stop working on your personality and just be a good person.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, there are some things about a man’s body that make a woman take notice. Even if you don’t look like Adonis, it doesn’t hurt to have good listening skills, be curious, and pay close attention to details. Think of yourself as a dinner plate. You might taste good (i.e., be polite and have a good personality), but if you look bad, no one will want to eat off of you. You eat first with your eyes.
Here is a list, in no particular order, of the things that women like about men. These aren’t just body parts, but things about men in general that women like. Some of these are easy to see, but others might surprise you. In any case, science has shown that all of these things are irresistible to women, so get your notebook out now.
Some of them can be changed in the gym, but others are set by their genes (sorry). In either case, this will give you an idea of what women like. You’ll find out quickly that women and men aren’t that different.
1. Abs
ThePostGame.com says that in a (not so surprising) study done by Western Illinois University, women said that a man’s abs were the sexiest muscle on his body. It makes sense; if you’re not wearing clothes, your stomach is in the front and center, so her eyes are drawn there at first glance (other than your face, of course). You’re lucky that you can shape your abs, but you can’t change your face. And to be fair, it’s not like all women are shallow. Gordon Patzer’s book “Looks: Why They Matter More Than You Ever Thought” says that men with a lot of belly fat have lower levels of testosterone, which means they have less sex drive and are less likely to have children.
2. Posterior
Women aren’t looking at the back of your head or the backs of your knees when you turn around. Surprise! An AskMen poll shows that women like butts just as much (okay, maybe not as much) as men do. Most of the 100 women surveyed said they liked men with strong glutes. See, your girlfriend is paying attention when you watch football and baseball.
3. Shoulders
A woman’s sexual satisfaction is linked to her partner’s beauty and shoulder width, a study showed. Meek-shouldered males should work out. According to David Perett’s book In Your Face: The New Science of Human Attraction, guys with broad, well-defined shoulders reported having sex at an early age and with more sexual partners.
4. Back
In a 2013 study, back broadness (remember that shoulder-to-hip ratio?) accounted for nearly 79% of a woman’s perceived attraction to a male. Wide V-shaped backs were more beautiful than height and endowment.
5. Strong Arms
In a HerCampus.com poll of over 100 college women from throughout the country, the majority selected arms as the most attractive feature. Women consider it a sign that you take care of your body and say they enjoy seeing a man’s biceps through his t-shirt or sweater. Strong arms represent a man’s ability to defend a woman—and, accidentally, to raise her up…
6. Chest
According to Perett’s book, In Your Face: The New Science of Human Attraction, women prefer males with the ideal hunting physique: muscular shoulders, slim waists, and broad chests and shoulders. Women like toned males, not bulky ones. You want sculpted pecs, not man or muscle boobs.
7. Your Face
Women are most attracted to males whose faces inspire their desire to nurture and mate with a sexually mature partner, according to the LA Times. They prefer males with huge eyes, a medium-to-small nose, a strong jaw, and wide cheekbones. Women seek a good-looking bad lad with sexual power. Women have decided not to decide.
8. Mouth
Oh, what a draw bad boys have. A study from the University of British Columbia found that women like brooding men more than happy guys. Caution: reading this might make you sad. Even though it’s important to smile in social situations, women were more attracted to men who seemed proud, strong, and, yes, a little moody at first glance. At first, act mysterious and distant, but once you have her, you can start to smile.
9. Powerful Hands
Women are detail-oriented. In an AskMen poll, women said that they liked a man’s hands because they can tell a lot about him, such as what he does for a living and how much care he takes of himself. Bigger hands are also a sign of being a man, but you probably already knew that.
10. Facial Hair
According to a 2013 study published in the journal Evolution & Human Behavior, males with strong stubble are the most appealing type of facial hair to women. They find heavy beards, mild stubble, and clean-shaved features unappealing. Women, on the other hand, equate big beards with good health and parenting ability—something to consider in the future.
