The 15+ Best Men’s Fashion Trends in 2022
MEN’S FASHION TREND. What’s in, what’s out..we’re much more concerned with helping you find clothes that make you look and feel handsome! And confident!
The team here at Teeanime put together a list of 2023 men’s style trends.
You don’t need to try them all. You don’t have to try any of them, for that matter.
But if you see one and think, “Hmm, maybe…?” then this is a sign that you should try it.
We promise that no one will laugh (except maybe if you bleach your hair, but more on that later), and if they do, they’re a jerk and you shouldn’t be friends with them anyway.
BELOW, CHECK OUT 15+ MEN’S FASHION TRENDS TO TRY IN 2023:
MEN’S FASHION TREND #1: SUSTAINABILITY IS IN STYLE
You can use sites like Grailed and TheRealReal, which focus on trends, or the original resale site, eBay.
Or, go to a thrift store near you to find old things.
Etsy is also a good place to find local artists who use leftover materials to make one-of-a-kind styles.
Second, shop with more purpose and buy quality pieces that you can wear for a long time without having to replace. (This article from Wirecutter has more great tips on how to shop in a sustainable way.)
Note from the editor: We’re trying to do a better job of pointing our audience toward higher-quality items and away from fast fashion.
In 2023, please hold us accountable.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #2: MEN’S MANICURES
Go for it if you want to try it!
Like skateboarder-turned-actor Evan Mock, paint each nail a different color. Or keep things the same with a manicure in bright red, black, or any other color you like.
You can do anything.
You can do it yourself at home, or you can go to a nail salon (with a friend or significant other if you need help choosing a color) for a professional job that won’t smudge.
Because men’s manicures will still be around in 2023.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #3: VIVA MAGENTA
The head of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, explains this year’s bright choice:
“It’s brave, it’s fearless, and it shows hope and happiness, which we all know we need a lot of.”
MEN’S FASHION TREND #4: CARPENTERCORE
You know the kind: they have a loose fit and straight legs, and they might have a hammer loop on the side.
You may not have worn this style since high school, but if you liked it back then, why not wear it now? Well, you’re in luck, because it’s coming back in 2023 in a big way.
How to wear carpentercore:
Switch out your tight pants for a pair that fits more loosely. Combine it with your coziest sweater or plaid shirt.
Birkenstock slip-ons for Phish fans are encouraged, but not required.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #5: UPDATING YOUR SUIT GAME
If you’ve been wearing sweatpants for a long time and want to get dressed up again, 2023 is your year.
Try adding a double-breasted suit, like the one Brendan Fraser is wearing above, or something in a bright color or pattern to your list of dressy clothes.
How to wear a statement suit
Are you new to suits?
First, make sure you have everything you need.
That means single-breasted, notch-lapel suits in navy and charcoal with a modern, flat-front pant.
From there, you can add a bold-colored or double-breasted suit if you a) wear suits often and b) are ready to wear a style that stands out.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #6: URBAN HIKER
We hope your parents kept your Patagonia jacket from high school, because the urban hiker look is back and bigger than ever in 2023.
How to wear the urban hiker look
This trend in men’s fashion isn’t too different from what you may already wear on the weekends, which is good news.
Just switch out your chore coat or field jacket for a puffer or fleece pullover and your Chelsea boots for trail sneakers, and you’re ready to go.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #7: TALL SOCKS HIKED OVER PANTS
I’ve always liked men with long socks.
When I was in college, I had a huge crush on a guy from Pennsylvania who dressed like he was from San Diego.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, the MVP of the Milwaukee Bucks, got me back into this trend today.
Less surfer and more Gen Z athlete is the look in 2023.
How to wear tall socks
When wearing tall socks like the Bucks MVP does above, scrunch up your joggers or sweatpants a little and pull the socks over the top of the elastic.
Don’t worry too much about it.
You want it to look like you can’t wait to get on the court and practice your free throws.
Putting on tall socks with cropped pants makes it even easier.
Just put them up high and leave them alone. If you sit down and show some shin, so be it.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #8: FASHION-Y HATS
Is 2023 the year you finally decide to wear something other than a baseball cap on your head?
Now is your chance!
Follow the example of famous people like Ryan Reynolds, who won SG Madness, and Henry Golding, and become that guy.
How to wear a fashion without looking like a doofus
No matter what kind of hat you wear, the rest of your outfit is what makes or breaks the look. Look at Golding’s cranberry-colored pants and suede jacket.
This outfit is perfect from head to toe. He looks like a “man of mystery from all over the world on vacation.”
Point being?
You can’t just throw on a white t-shirt, holey jeans, and dirty sneakers and think that a hat will make you look stylish.
A hat is like the cherry on top of your outfit. To really work, the whole thing has to be good.
As for what makes the best hats, For an interesting texture, stick to 100% wool or a wool blend. Cotton or polyester will make a hat look thin and, well, cheap.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #9: CROSS BODY BAGS
You might not like what is basically a fanny pack slung across your body, but this style of bag is here to stay in 2023.
Jarred Vanderbilt of the Utah Jazz shows how to wear the look, which is to say, very casually!
This bag doesn’t go with a suit.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #10: THROWBACK ’90S STYLE
I think Euphoria is to blame for the return of ’90s fashion.
Gen Z has all of a sudden caught on to the trends of my youth and called them “retro.”
You can join this trend by going through the closet in your old bedroom. You could also buy some new things.
Think big sweatshirts with logos, puffer jackets, and chunky shoes.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #11: MONOCHROME OUTFITS
Head to toe in the same color has never been cooler.
Take a page from David Beckham’s fashion book and wear all black for an outfit that is elegant, sophisticated, and (most importantly) easy!
Don’t think that you can only use neutrals, though. You can wear bright colors on both the top and the bottom.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #12: FAUX FUR
Fake fur can look and feel just as good as real fur these days. If you don’t want to use real stuff because it’s unethical or just because you think it’s tacky, you have a lot of options.
How to wear faux fur
Want a simple way to add the faux fur fashion trend for men in 2023 to your wardrobe? Start with a winter jacket’s collar.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #13: TURTLENECKS
The funny thing about men’s fashion trends is that you probably already wear most of them. just rethought or showing off new sizes. Think: pants with pleats. You have to put on pants.
So, the trend of “turtlenecks” is kind of funny to us here at SG HQ. You should already have a lot of sweaters to wear this winter when the weather calls for it, but who knows?
We do know that we like turtlenecks a lot, so if you’re tired of your crewnecks and quarter-zips, this is your chance to try something new.
How to wear men’s turtlenecks
Casually. Nonchalantly. “Oh, this old thing?” should be written on your turtleneck.
In other words, pair it with jeans. Put on a sportcoat with it. Just put it on!
You really don’t need to make it any harder than that.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #14: CARDIGANS
Esquire says that cardigans are the best winter fashion trend for men because “their button-front design lets you air out or bundle up as the temperature changes.”
How to wear cardigans
When it comes to cardigan sweater style, we agree with the guys at The Art of Manliness. “In general,” they say, “go with buttons.”
“Cardigans can have buttons, toggles, or a zipper to close them. Buttons are often the most classic and handsome way to dress.
Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be by adding too many closures. A cardigan already takes you off the traditional sweater path.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #15: COUNTRY GENTLEMAN
The most recent season of The Crown on Netflix could be seen as the start of this trend.
For some reason, they chose an actor who was way too hot to play Prince Charles as the future king. Now, the “rumpled Barbour jacket over a shetland sweater with a cup of tea” look is back with a vengeance.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #16: STATEMENT BEARDS
Is 2023 the year you finally get the long, thick beard you’ve always wanted?
There’s a lot of talk about the best hairstyles and beards for guys in the summer, but it’s time to talk about the winter, too.

MEN’S FASHION TREND #17: THE PENNY LOAFER
If 2022 was the year of the Birkenstock, 2023 will be the beginning of the penny loafer era.
How to wear penny loafers
For an office-appropriate look, wear your loafers with cuffed chinos or cropped pants and a tweed blazer.
On the weekend, instead of sneakers, wear your favorite jeans or cords with loafers.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #18: MODERN FORMALWEAR
The Yummertime guys show that a velvet tuxedo jacket doesn’t have to feel that different from an all-black one.
How to wear velvet tuxedo jackets
A velvet jacket is great because you can really dress it up or down. For a high-end look, pair it with black pants, a white shirt, a bow tie, and shiny patent shoes or, better yet, tuxedo slippers.
For a less traditional but still fun and fancy event, wear a simple crewneck t-shirt, black jeans, and boots.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #19: PERFORMANCE WORKWEAR
If you’ve been WFH for a few years and are now back in the office, you know that the transition can be rough.
Many men’s brands have helped make work clothes a little more comfortable, which is great.
Look for dress pants with drawstrings and elastic waistbands, like the L’Estrange pair above, to help you ease back into “hard” pants and wearing real clothes all day.
MEN’S FASHION TREND #20: ATHLEISURE EVERYWHERE
Another example of a “When will we stop calling this a trend and just wear it all the time?” trend.
If you don’t wear joggers, performance pants, or even a simple hoodie, you’re missing out on the athleisure trend. We’re not sure what to say.
