Shonen anime is aimed towards male audiences, but that doesn’t mean it can’t feature strong, amazing female characters!
The Shonen genre has many of the most popular anime series of all time. These are aimed at adolescent boys aged 13 to 18, but they draw viewers of all ages and genders. Many of these anime, given their intended demographic, center on male characters, with most of the main protagonists and villains being men.
Unfortunately, this means that many shows do not portray female anime characters in a strong and powerful light – despite the fact that they have the potential to do so. The great female characters who shine in the spotlight in their shonen anime deserve special appreciation.
Year after year, the anime business expands. With so many new anime releases, it’s impossible to keep track of them all. Because it is difficult for an anime to stand out, the creators devote a significant amount of time to their unique series to ensure that they have the quality that would assure their success. Females were not previously well-represented in anime, as is widely known, although this has changed in recent years. Female characters are given more attention in newer anime shows, and they are given enough talents to compete with their male counterparts. With that in mind, we’ve updated the list to include some of the most powerful female anime characters.
18/18
Kagura (Gintama)
Kagura joined Odd Jobs when Gintoki ran her over with a scooter. She is far stronger than humans because she is a member of the Yato clan. Kagura’s Yato ancestry helps her to easily defeat the most powerful characters.
She has demonstrated her strength multiple times during the series, but due to her gentle demeanor, she rarely goes all-out in battles. Kagura becomes a brutal killing machine if she loses control of her emotions. She is believed to be much powerful than the usual Yato, making her one of Gintama’s strongest characters.
17/18
Charlotte Linlin (One Piece)
Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, was one of the Yonko, making her one of the series’ four fiercest pirates. She ate the Soru Soru no Mi, a paramecia-type devil fruit that permits its owner to steal other people’s souls.
Big Mom can use a person’s soul to increase her own strength or to produce homies who battle for her. She could employ three different forms of Haki in addition to the potent devil fruit, making her an exceptionally threatening character. Big Mom had never been scratched in a battle because her skin was so strong. Furthermore, she was able to fight Kaido without difficulty.
16/18
Lisa Lisa (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Among the many memorable figures in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency is a young woman named Lisa Lisa. She met her son, Joseph, when he travelled to Venice to learn about Hamon. He and Caesar were taken under Lisa Lisa’s wing, and Messina and Loggins were given charge of supervising them.
Lisa Lisa was a skilled user of Hamon, and her might intimidated Kars to the point that he resorted to dishonest tactics to overcome her. Lisa Lisa never got a chance to show off her full power, but considering that she was trained by Straizo, it is safe to conclude that she was probably a very powerful fighter.

Retsu Unohana(Bleach)
Retsu Unohana was in charge of the Fourth Division of the Gotei 13 as its captain. She had been in the military and had learned a lot during her time there. Retsu was also known as the best healer in Soul Society. He learned how to do this from Royal Guard Tenjiro Kirinji.
Retsu is just as good with a sword as she is at healing, if not better. She had learned almost every way to fight with a sword, so she could easily beat her opponents. She fought Kenpachi more than once, and almost every time she won. Retsu was also very smart, and she would always look at the situation before getting into a fight. All of these things make her one of the most powerful anime characters who is a girl.

Nobara Kugasaki (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Nobara is a strong jujutsu sorcerer in training with exceptional abilities. Even at the start of the anime, when she is only 16 years old, she possesses incredible abilities far beyond those of the main protagonist Yuji. She has strong mental fortitude and can easily defeat lower cursed spirits.

Thankfully, she ends up on the protagonist Rimuru’s side and uses her immense power for good (most of the time).
11/18
Lucy (Elfen Lied)
She is a diclonii, a species that evolved from humans and possesses immense strength, horns, and invisible destructive arms known as vectors. Lucy used her untraceable power to kill a great number of people after struggling with a terrible background and a life of despair and violence.
Lucy is constantly on the verge of a murderous rage, and she spent the majority of her terrible childhood destroying entire families owing to her innate hatred of mankind. She is strong, difficult to catch, and possesses practically unrivaled powers. Her narrative is considerably more complicated than just being a serial killer, yet her power is still terrifying.
10/18

9/18
Mirko (My Hero Academia)
Mirko, the Rabbit Hero, shows over and over again how strong she is. She is the Pro-Hero with the highest rank in My Hero Academia, and her rank has been going up over time. Her quirk makes her stronger, better able to hear, faster, more agile, and able to take more pain.
Mirko is also good at fighting with her bare hands. She uses her strong legs to beat down her opponents. Mirko fights more than one Nomu at once, which no other hero has ever been able to do. She deserves to be one of the best Pro-Heroes.

Misa made the deal to get the power of Shinigami Eyes, which lets her see people’s names and how long they will live when she looks at them.
This gives her an advantage over her enemies because she can remember anyone’s name just by looking at their face. Misa is on this list because she has killed so many other people. And in the Death Note world, she is the second most dangerous person after Light.

Izumi Curtis (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Izumi is an accomplished alchemist and martial artist. She is clearly one of the series’ physically strongest characters, with exceptional expertise in hand-to-hand combat and weapon use. Her alchemy abilities are very outstanding, and she is quite astute when it comes to employing alchemy for good.

The character depicted in Seven Deadly Sins is a distorted depiction of Merlin from the story of Camelot.
