These anime heroes remain so pure to their ideals that they will wholeheartedly consider befriending villains who put them through suffering.
The main characters in anime, with a few exceptions, tend to be pure people who never give up on their goals and always help the people around them. People who use these tropes a lot also tend to feel sorry for a villain who has caused them a lot of trouble over and over again. Even though it can get annoying at times, it’s still a lot of fun to see bad guys change their minds and join forces with the hero.
This trope is shown well by the following characters, which isn’t always a bad thing. Most people think that these characters are the best in the whole series, so it’s easy to see how even their constant need to make friends with their enemies can be kind of cute.

Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)
Naruto, the man known for his famous Talk-no-Jutsu, must be mentioned when discussing anime characters that enjoy befriending their foes. The sheer amount of times Naruto has made his adversaries change their minds through his words is quite amusing in its own right.
That being said, Naruto should be applauded for persevering in the face of hardship time and again. This tenacity is a big part of why fans adore one of shonen anime’s most renowned protagonists.

Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
Monkey D. Luffy is another well-known shonen character who requires no introduction. The main character of One Piece has played a significant role in almost all of its arcs, with the pirate making it a point to give villains a much-needed earful before pummeling them into the ground over and over.
That said, there’s no denying that Luffy would prefer to take the path of peace before causing such great harm. He only beats up people who deserve it and tries to persuade others to join the Straw Hat Pirates, which is part of what makes him such a lovable character.

Son Goku (Dragon Ball)
Speaking of renowned anime protagonists that prefer to tread the path of peace, Goku is another character who has a history of befriending his antagonists throughout the series. Piccolo and Vegeta were already important additions to the Z Warriors, and Goku’s ability to create an alliance with Frieza of all people demonstrates just what he’s all about.
Sure, some of his judgments can be extremely rash at times, but there’s no doubting that Goku’s determination to avoid battle unless absolutely necessary is noble. Again, as with the other characters mentioned thus far, this is a fundamental component of Goku’s character – anime heroes who always befriend villains.

Josuke Higashikata (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
All of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s heroes have a habit of attempting to befriend those who initially crossed their path as foes. Josuke is no exception, with Morioh’s slice-of-life themes making each and every character a cornerstone of the show.
So there are occasions when Josuke beats the living crap out of an adversary only to have that same person support him later on. This makes the relationship between Josuke and the show’s villains quite thrilling, albeit some may be more entertaining than others.

Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia)
Midoriya is a standard shonen protagonist, to the point where some people think he’s excessively formulaic. However, there’s no disputing that his courage makes him an easy character to root for throughout the series.
Midoriya has repeatedly demonstrated how much of a positive presence he is, from trying to understand his bully’s conduct to covering up for Gentle Criminal’s actions. He’s an intriguing figure to follow in a program that really needs to speed up the pace in the coming season.

Saitama (One-Punch Man)
One of the most intriguing anime characters of all time is Saitama. Most people think he doesn’t want to make friends in the first place, but his laid-back demeanor and massive strength certainly make him a force to be reckoned with.
His personality nearly draws people to him, with characters such as Genos and King becoming his friends after initially obstructing him. It’s unfortunate that this series has yet to acquire a third season, but perhaps time will alter that.

Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)
Yu Yu Hakusho is a classic shonen series in which a gang of fighters (including two high school students) pool their abilities to combat the world’s various demons. This show’s protagonist is a quick-witted Spirit Detective with enormous potential.
Yusuke has been a major feature of most arcs, accumulating a lot of power to fight his opponents over and over. He makes it a point to empathize with his adversaries, even the most heinous ones like Toguro or Sensui.

Mob Kageyama (Mob Psycho 100)
Mob Psycho 100 is a fantastic series that follows the lives of a powerful esper named Mob Kageyama. However, rather than relying on his superhuman abilities to thrive in life, Mob attempts to make the most of his own abilities.
His timid demeanor conceals a depth of power that he can employ to crush even the most powerful adversaries. The fact that individuals like Dimple and Teruki have become his pals after previously opposing him demonstrates how likable Mob is.
